Fudayl Ibn Iyyaad ,explaining the
difficulty in achieving sincerity and mentioning a matter which many of the
servants engage in,said:
"If it were
said to you;'O the one showing off,you get
annoyed and it becomes unbearable to you and perhaps,what was said to you is
the truth.You have shown goodness for worldly benefits and pretended; you had shortened your garment and
bettered your Sumt1 and kept away your harm until
it was said:Aboo So-and so is a righteous servant;how good is his Sumt.So they,honor you and come to you
and refer to you like the Tasawwuk Dirham2 not known by everyone and when it is
opened up, copper is seen."
