If the heart is sick, the forbidden becomes attractive

Ad-Dhahabi writes:
“Abdul Rahman Ibn Ishaaq said: “When Sufyan Al-Thawri passed away, I brought him to the the mughtasil (so that he can be washed). I untangled a piece of his garment and found a sheet with ahadith written on it”.["Manaqib Sufyan Al-Thawri",

Musa bin Isma’il said:
“If I told you that I have never seen Hammad laughing, I would be telling the truth. He was always busy, either narrating the hadith, or reading, or glorifying (Allah), or praying, and he divided his day between them.”

[Rufaqa Tareeq pg.47]

"We should remember the glory and greatness of Allah, and feel that He is too great to be sinned against as He is all-seeing and all-hearing. Whoever thinks of the greatness of Allah will never be at ease in committing wrong actions."
[Imam Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyyah]

If the heart is sick, the forbidden becomes attractive and Allah's obedience becomes nauseating.(Ibn Qayyim)

Hamdun bin Ahmad (رحمه الله ) said: The speech of our pious predecessors is more beneficial than our speech because they spoke for the honor of Islam, for the salvation of the soul, & for the pleasure of Allah. However, we speak to honor ourselves, to seek out the world, & to please creation"
