It is a duty upon every sane person to be prepared for his departure

"It is a duty upon every sane person to be prepared for his departure (from this world), for one does not know when he will be served by his Lord's commands (to take away his soul) nor does he know how long it is going to be before he will be summoned (for the Day of Judgment)."
Ibn qayyim al jawziyyah

"Your attention must be directed to your life in the present: the time between two times. If you waste it, then you have wasted the opportunity to be of the fortunate and saved ones. If you look after it, then you will achieve rest, delight, and ever-lasting bliss."

Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah

"How is it possible for one's heart to be certain that one is going to meet Allah, that Allah sees and hears all that he does, and knows his secret open affairs, and that he will be made to stand before Allah, answerable for all his deeds. how can one be certain and aware of all of this, and yet persist upon things which displease Allah; persist upon abandoning Allah's orders, neglecting His rights, and yet claim that he has good expectation of Allah?

Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah

"Man's fear of Allah is equal to his knowledge of Him, and his renunciation of the life of this world is equal to his desire of the Hereafter. Whoever acts according to what he knows, Allah will make him successful in what he doesn't know. And whoever is ill-tempered disgraces his honour, religion and generosity."

Al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyaad

"When my heart was hardened, and my courses constrained; I made my hope a stairway to Your forgiveness. My sins burdened me heavily, but when I measured it by Your forgiveness, Lord, Your forgiveness was the greater."

Imam Ash-Shaafi'ee

"Taqwa will remain in the hearts of people of taqwa as long as they leave off much of the permissible for fear that they may lead to haram."

Al-Hasan Al-Basree

"We don’t know anything that is stronger for the believer than night prayer and sadaqa and indeed a person will commit one sin and we will not be able to get up at night."
Al-Hasan Al-Basree
