ibn Hazm on Love

فلست أبالي في الهوى قول لأئم
سواء لعمري جاهر أو مخافت
وهل يلزم الإنسان إلا اخـتـياره
وهل بخبايا اللفظ يؤخذ صامـت

"Naught I care for others' blame
Who declare my love a shame;
Let them whisper, let them shout,
I can face their scandal out ...

"Shall a man be judged, think you,
Save for what he willed to do?
Or have charged against his head
Words that he has never said?"
